Our Services
Passionate about Learning
Teen Programs
Typical teen programs are one hour long, and have discussion and hands-on segments as well as an opportunity to receive a professional applied henna design. We can focus on culture, history, science, how-to instructions or a brief overview of all, depending on your group’s interests.
Story Time
For younger children we offer a story-time style program which includes One or two stories, a craft, and an activity. This can be themed around your curriculum needs, or be a stand-alone activity. We’re happy to work with you.
Workshops
Usually offered in one or two-hour segments, workshops can be a single event, or a class that meets for multiple sessions. These usually prioritize hands-on instruction and can be anything from a quick introduction for those interested in the craft, to a deep dive for aspiring professionals.
Private Classes
Private classes offer a much more intimate opportunity to learn. This is a private tutoring session for just you and up to three friends. You lead the experience, and we’ll teach you exactly what you want to know.
Our Story
Henna Muse was built on Education
Way back in the late 90s Jen was a clerk and programmer in the Children’s department at Wood District Public Library in Bowling Green Ohio. When Jen’s director suggested a program on mehndi (the Hindi word for henna) she was unable to find someone locally available to present on the topic. The director insisted “you went to school for art, right? Figure it out!” And so she did.
After a successful presentation of a fun and informative program, Jen was sent to a regional planning session where she taught library staff from all over northwest Ohio how to present that henna program. Well, instead of doing themselves they started hiring her! And in that process Jen fell in love with the art, craft, history, culture, geography, and science of henna.
Somewhere in the 2010s Jen began to teach not just to children and new learners, but also professionals, presenting on topics that include library programming, chemistry of henna, FDA compliance, and copyright for artists.
Because of this heritage, and a passion for learning we have and always will offer discounted fees for school and library programming.
